Data Merge with Images in Adobe Illustrator

As a wedding invitation designer I use data merge A LOT - envelope addressing and place cards being the most common reasons. I generally do this in Adobe InDesign for those text heavy instances, but it can also be done using Adobe Illustrator (check out this video: • Data Merge Envelope Addresses in Adobe Ill... ).
But what about for images? Day-of stationery place cards often include a meal selection where clients want to use little symbols/images instead of words! This is SUPER easy to do using Illustrator, so let's dive in.
