Interrupt driven io is an alternative to the programmed io mechanism
The disadvantages of the programmed io will be overcomed in the interrupt driven io mechanism.
In programmed io the cpu will wait for the input output event to happen. Where as in the interrupt driven the computer will do its execution and an interrupt signal will be generated whenever the io operation are generated.
