In this tutorial, we will learn "How to Transpose Long Dataframe to Wide Dataframe by dcast function" in R programming.
If you have a a dataset in long format, you’re ready to reshape it with R. The melt and dcast functions for data.tables are for reshaping wide-to-long and long-to-wide.
Tips: You use the dcast() function to cast a molten data frame. To be clear, you use this to convert from a long format to a wide format, but you also can use this to aggregate into intermediate formats, similar to the way a pivot table works.
Many functions in R expect data to be in a long format rather than a wide format. Programs like SPSS, however, often use wide-formatted data.
We can use the same melt function as in the reshape2 package (which is an extended & improved implementation). melt from data.table has also more parameters that the melt-function from reshape2.
