The rm command in Unix-like operating systems (including Linux and macOS) is used for removing files and directories. It stands for "remove." It's a powerful command that can delete files and directories, so be careful when using it. Here are the details of the rm :-
rm filename:-This command deletes the file named "filename."
rm file1 file2 file3 :-You can delete multiple files in a single command by specifying their names.
rm d directory_name : Use the -d option to delete a directory, but this will only work if the directory is empty.
rm r directory_name : The -r option is used to remove a directory and its contents recursively. Be cautious when using this option, as it will delete everything within the directory.
rm f filename : The -f option allows you to forcefully remove a file without being prompted for confirmation.
rm i file1 file2 : Use the -i option to have rm prompt for confirmation before deleting each specified file.
rm rv directory_name : The -v option makes rm verbose, displaying information about each file and directory being removed.
rm r directory_name/* : This command removes all files within the specified directory but keeps the directory itself.
rm *.txt :- You can use wildcards to remove files matching a specific pattern. In this example, all files with a .txt extension will be deleted.
