4K TV+Mac tips, 60Hz over HDMI at lower resolution
Trying out a 65" Samsung 7100 TV as a monitor for my mac. This video is to help others that encountered the problems I did, namely 30 Hz output regardless of the chosen resolution in mac preferences. I used SwitchResX to enable 2560x1440 resolution at 60 Hz and it looks perfect!
I could not get full 4K at 60 Hz no matter how hard I tried, but 2560x1440 is working perfectly for me so I probably wouldn't change it if I could.
This TV doesn't have Displayport, and I've heard of others having full 4K at 60 Hz with that. The other fix I heard was using a powered HDMI hub of some sort...
This worked on both my 2013 Mac Pro, and my 2016 MacBook Pro on Mojave.
