Hey there, I’m Matt, and today I’m going to show you how to set a playlist thumbnail on YouTube. First off, I’m on the channel dashboard of the channel you’re watching this video on.
To get started, we need to find the “Content” section on the dashboard. It’s the second option down, so go ahead and click on that.
Once you’re in the content area, you’ll see all your videos listed. I have some scheduled videos that haven’t gone live yet, but for now, let’s focus on the little bar at the top.
We need to click on “Playlists” to access our playlists. I have a new playlist at the top called the Mac playlist, so I’m going to click on “Details” to open it up.
Now, here’s where it gets a bit tricky. It used to be that you could edit thumbnails directly from this page, but YouTube has changed things up a bit.
To change the thumbnail, we need to click on “View on YouTube.” This will open the live view of the playlist as a viewer would see it. Once the playlist is open, you’ll notice that by default, the thumbnail is set to the video that’s at the top of the playlist.
If you want to change that thumbnail, look for the little edit icon. Clicking on that will prompt your computer to open up a window where you can select a different image for your thumbnail.
You can choose any image you want from your files. For instance, I have a few random files on my desktop, and let’s say I want to use one of those as my new thumbnail.
I would select the image I want and click “Open.” This action will replace the existing thumbnail with the new one you’ve chosen. And that’s it!
You just click the edit icon, select your desired image, and hit open to add a new thumbnail to your YouTube playlist. I hope this video has been helpful for you.
