Lets say you are working on a house numbering system project. You have polygon geometry type shapefile data of buildings of a particular Ward with no other attribute information. But you have another point geometry type shapefile of same buildings with atrribute information like owner name, house number etc. You want that attribute information of point data in polygon and point data overlays on polygon house data.

In this case, you can use Intersect spatial join tool to get attribute information from point data type in polygon data. This tutorial is about the same.

NOTE: Make sure to keep both data in same coordinate system.
