Hey everyone, it's Matt here with a quick tutorial on how to download Facebook Messenger conversations. Whether you're on your own page or just browsing Facebook, you'll start by clicking on your profile picture in the top right corner.
From there, head into "Settings and Privacy" and then click on "Settings."
Once you're in the settings menu, look for the "Account Center" at the top. There are a couple of ways to get to the next part, but I'll walk you through this one.
Click on "See More" in the Account Center. This works on both desktop and mobile, by the way.
Scroll down until you find "Your Information and Permissions" and click on that. Then, you're going to want to select "Download Your Information."
You'll see a bunch of options here, but for our purposes, we're focusing on downloading messages.
You can choose to download all your Facebook activity, but that's usually overkill. Just select "Messages" to proceed.
Depending on how chatty you've been, this might take a while to download. Next, you'll choose whether to download your messages directly to your device or transfer them to a storage service like Google Drive or Dropbox.
I'm going to download mine directly to my computer. Facebook gives you four days to download your files once they're ready, and you can set a date range for the messages you want to download.
Whether it's the last month, three months, or six months, or even a custom range, just pick what suits you. I'm going for the last six months.
Then, decide where you want the notification for the download to be sent. As for the format, HTML is a solid choice for most people.
You can also choose the quality of media in your download; medium works fine unless you need high-quality images. After clicking "Create Files," Facebook will start preparing your download.
It might take some time, but you'll get an email notification when it's ready to download directly to your device. And that's pretty much it!
I hope this guide helps you download your Facebook Messenger messages easily.
