SSIS Practise #Assignment 5 #For Each Item Enumerator #Lookup Concept #Merge Join #Parameter Binding

Looup Transformation: The Lookup transformation performs lookups by joining data in input columns with columns in a reference dataset. You use the lookup to access additional information in a related table that is based on values in common columns. The Lookup transformation tries to perform an equi-join between values in the transformation input and values in the reference dataset. (An equi-join means that each row in the transformation input must match at least one row from the reference dataset.)

Parameter Binding : can pass values from the parent package or the project, to the child package. The project must use the project deployment model and the child package must be contained in the same project that contains the parent package.

Merge Join: The Merge Join Transformation in SSIS is used to perform SQL Joins such as Inner Join, Left Outer Join, Full Outer Join and Right Outer Join (indirectly achieved by Swapping the tables) in SQL Server Integration Services

Assignment 5: Load data from Excel Source files (Orders and Items) to SQL Table (Order_Unit)

CREATE TABLE [dbo].[Order_Unit](
[OrderId] [int] NULL,
[OrderDate] [datetime] NULL,
[OrderCreatedDate] [datetime] NULL,
[Order Weekday] [varchar](50) NULL,
[Region] [varchar](50) NULL,
[Rep] [varchar](50) NULL,
[Item] [varchar](50) NULL,
[Units] [int] NULL,
[Unit Cost] [float] NULL,
[Total] [float] NULL
)

Sources: Excel Files - Order + Items
Transformations: Some Transformations,
Additional Columns Logic:
[OrderCreatedDate] should be equal to [OrderDate]
[Order Weekday] should be calculated from [OrderDate] - Sun, Mon,... , Sat
Destination: SQL Table - Order_Unit

Note: If you require source files to test out the knowledge, you can comment your mail id in the comment section, and we will share you over mail.
