In this video, I explore Silent Hill 2 (Remake) from a game developer’s point of view. I’m walking through the environment in first person and breaking down why it looks so good — lighting, mood, storytelling, texture work, and overall environment design.
I’ll talk about:
How the world sells decay, grime, and age through texture work
Smart use of props, clutter, signage, and damage to make spaces feel believable
Lighting and atmosphere choices that control tension and draw your eye
How to take reference screenshots the right way (composition, surfaces, modular pieces, trim sheets, decals, etc.)
How I would approach recreating a small scene or building from Silent Hill 2 in my own project
If you're trying to level up your environment art, build stronger horror spaces, or translate AAA quality reference into your own Unreal Engine 5 work, this is exactly how I study a finished game.
If you want a full tutorial where I recreate one of these spaces in UE5, let me know in the comments.
My PC Specs:
CPU: Intel i9 9900k
Graphics: Nvidia RTX 3080
Motherboard: GIGABYTE Z390 AORUS PRO
RAM: G.Skill Aegis Series 64GB
