The word trap began to sound in the late nineties through the Dungeon Family collective. Later, in the nineties, musicians such as NWA, UGK, Three 6 Mafia, Master P, Dr. Dre or Ice-T, among others, began to use what has been called gangsta rap to talk about the violent lifestyle in disadvantaged areas of North American cities, leaving aside the most political and poetic discourses of early rap. The transformation of the genre extends to the Mystic Stylez (1995) of Three 6 Mafia until it reaches Gucci Mane and his Trap House (2005).
