Hey, it's Matt here, and I've got a quick tutorial for you on how to clear the cache in WordPress. I'm diving right into this on my site, filmmakinglifestyle.com, if you're curious to check it out.
So, when we talk about cache in WordPress, we're essentially dealing with three main types. First, there's the WordPress cache itself, which is often managed by a plugin.
In my case, I'm using WP Rocket to handle this. Then, you've got server cache, which, for those using services like Cloudways, might involve something like Varnish.
This is a separate layer from your WordPress cache. And lastly, some of you might be using a CDN, like Cloudflare, which adds another caching layer to manage.
Managing these caches means you're working across different layers - the WordPress layer, the server level, and potentially a CDN layer. Each has its own method for clearing cache, which can get a bit complex depending on your setup.
But today, I'm focusing on how to flush the cache right within WordPress using WP Rocket. Let's jump into the WP Rocket settings from the WordPress dashboard.
Whether you're tweaking file optimization settings or adjusting media settings, you'll find a 'Clear Cache' option in the main dashboard area. It's super straightforward – just hit the 'Clear and Preload' button.
Doing this clears all the cached files and preloads them again. WP Rocket will start to preload the pages by caching them afresh.
Clearing your cache is something you might need to do now and then, especially after installing a new plugin or making significant changes to your site. Although I'm not going to hit the button right now, clicking 'Clear and Preload' will instantly clear and reload your cache, making sure your site's content is up to date.
So, whether you call it clearing, flushing, or deleting the cache, it's all about keeping your site running smoothly and ensuring changes are reflected promptly. And that's pretty much how you manage your WordPress cache, especially if you're using WP Rocket like me.
Hope this helps you keep your site speedy and up to date!
