Hey everyone, it’s Matt, and today I’m going to show you how to hide a featured image on a WordPress post. I’m in the backend of my website, and I recommend starting by navigating to the plugins section.
You’ll find this option in the sidebar, which might look a bit cluttered. Once you’re in the plugins area, go ahead and click on “Add Plugins.” In the search bar, type in “conditionally display.” You should see a plugin called "Conditionally Display WordPress Featured Image on Singular Posts and Pages." This plugin is really helpful for what we need to do, so let’s install it.
Installing a plugin is pretty straightforward. Just click the install button, and once it’s done, don’t forget to activate it.
After activation, you can head back to your posts. When you open up a post that has a featured image, you’ll notice a new option available.
Now, if you want to hide the featured image, you usually have the option to remove it completely, but that takes it away from everywhere. Instead, this plugin allows you to choose not to display the featured image only on singular views.
You’ll want to select the option that says “display featured image in post lists only, hide on singular views.”
After you’ve made your selection, click “update,” and that’s it! The featured image will now be hidden on that specific post.
Keep in mind that if you have multiple posts, you’ll need to do this for each one individually, as there’s no bulk option available. That wraps up this quick tutorial on hiding a featured image in WordPress.
