Hey everyone, it's Matt, and today I’m going to show you how to remove yourself from a Twitter list, which is now called X. In my opinion, lists are one of the most important features on the platform.
But hey, if you want to get off a list for any reason, I’ve got you covered. First, I’m on my profile here, and you can find me at Matt A.
Crawford if you want to follow along. So, let’s dive in.
You’ll want to scroll down to the sidebar and click on “Lists.” It’s about halfway down. Then, look for the three dots in the top right corner—this is the “More” option.
Click on that, and you’ll see an option that’s kind of tucked away: “Lists you’re on.”
Once you click that, you’ll see all the lists you’re a part of. I’m on quite a few related to tech and entrepreneurship.
Now, I have to ask: why would you want to remove yourself from a list? Unless it’s some kind of troll list or something insulting, being on a list usually means good exposure, especially if you’re building a personal brand.
But if you really want to remove yourself, here’s the catch: the only way to do it is to block the list owner. I know, it sounds a bit extreme, but that’s how it works.
So, let’s say I want to remove myself from a list of creators. You’d find the list owner, click on their profile, and then hit those three dots again.
From there, you’ll choose “Block.”
I’m not going to block anyone right now since I don’t know this person and I’m fine being on their list. But that’s the process.
Once you block the user, you’ll automatically be removed from their list because X sees that as a sign you don’t want any interaction with them. And that’s it!
