Hey everyone, it’s Matt! Today, I’m diving into how to install and remove Google Chrome extensions.
First off, I’m in the Chrome Web Store, specifically in the extensions section. If you're unsure where to find it, you can easily search for "Chrome extensions" on Google or just click the link I’ll drop in the description below.
Once you're in the extensions section, you'll see a variety of options. There are categories like weather, AI assistance, and tools to manage your tabs.
You can even find personalized recommendations based on your browsing habits. If you’re looking for something specific, there’s a search bar to help you out.
Sometimes, you might stumble across an extension while browsing other websites. For example, I found one called "Checker Plus for Gmail." When I click on it, it takes me to its dedicated page.
Regardless of how you find an extension—whether through the Chrome Store or elsewhere—the next step is to install it by clicking the blue button. Before I show you how to add an extension, let’s check out where they actually live in Chrome.
Look for the puzzle piece icon in the top right corner. Clicking it reveals all the extensions you have installed.
If you want quick access to a particular extension, you can pin it by clicking the pin icon next to it. For instance, I use the color picker and a screenshot tool called "Go Full Page" frequently, so I’ve pinned those for easy access.
To add a new extension, simply click “Add to Chrome.” You’ll get a warning pop-up, and all you need to do is click “Add extension.” Once it’s added, you’ll see a confirmation message. Sometimes, it might redirect you to the developer's site, but you can just close that tab.
Now, let’s talk about managing your extensions. Head back to the puzzle piece icon.
If you’ve just added an extension, you can pin it to your toolbar for easy access. You can also unpin any extensions you no longer want to see there.
If you want to remove an extension, it’s pretty straightforward. Click on “Manage extensions” to see a list of everything you have.
You can scroll through and find the one you want to disable or remove. To disable it, just click the little checkmark next to it.
If you want to completely remove it, click the “Remove” button. A warning will pop up, and you just hit “Remove” again to confirm.
And just like that, it’s uninstalled! So, that’s a wrap on how to add and remove Chrome extensions!
