OpenWrt - Raspberry Pi 5 handles 2.5Gbps smoothly (using USB 3.0 to 2.5GbE adapters)
Sometime ago, I made videos about Raspberry Pi 5 runs OpenWrt snapshot. In this short video, I just want to update that the Raspberry Pi 5 can handle 2.5Gbps smoothly. Let's watch the video for more information.
For this test, I used 2 x USB 3.0 to 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet adapters. It has Realtek RTL8156B chip and the driver package is kmod-usb-net-rtl8152. Please note that you need to add this package to the OpenWrt firmware in order for the NIC to work.
Video timeframe:
00:00 - OpenWrt on Raspberry Pi 5 with USB adapters
00:57 - Build OpenWrt firmware with driver for USB network adapters
01:35 - Hardware setup & Configure the USB network adapters in LuCI
03:53 - Internet Speedtest
04:18 - Local OpenSpeedTest
04:40 - Enable Software Offloading & Packet Steering
04:53 - OpenSpeedTest
05:09 - iPerf3 Test
That is all. Thanks for watching and see you in the next video!
