In this lesson I install a backup domain controller onto the domain. The process is similar to installing a primary domain controller with the exception of choosing to join it to an existing domain in an existing forest. I install Active Directory Domain Services and then promote the computer to a domain controller using dcpromo. I join it to the existing domain and after completed take a look at Active Directory Users and Computers to verify that my user accounts and such are synchronizing with the primary domain controller creating a fully functioning backup of the domain controller.
