Callback, sending a string to a new file.
Use the [-i] option with the [ls -l] to be [ls -li [file name]] to get the inode of the file.
Hard link description. They can use multiple names to refer to the same file. They increase the link counter. If a file name is deleted the file still exist as long as there is a file with the same inode in existence. They cannot be linked to directories. They must exist within the same filesystem as the file that it links to.
Creating a hard link. Syntax: [ ln ~target~ ~link name~ ].
08:51 Soft Links
A.k.a. soft link.
They do not increase the link count of files with which they are linked.
Unlike hard links, they have their own inode.
Where hard links cannot soft links can, and visa versa.
Creating a soft link. Syntax: [ ln -s ~target~ ~link name~ ].
Permissions listed in the soft link do not matter as they are determined by the source file they are linked to.
