In this tutorial, Russ Andersson demonstrates how to generate a shadow layer in SynthEyes for final compositing in After Effects. Addressing the lack of a building shadow in a 360VR shot, he shows how to create a mesh object on which the shadow can fall. By lassoing trackers and converting them to a mesh, he triangulates the mesh and uses a shadow map maker script to texture it with the shadow. The textured shadow mesh is then exported to Blender for rendering. The rendered shadow layer is used in After Effects to complete the scene, ensuring realistic shadows on the hillside beneath the building.
